| Architectural masonry comes in many varieties and one of the most often overlooked types is the
smoothface unit. It does not have a specifically different face or typical application…. it is
primarily a colored concrete block. Its uses like all masonry are vast and the colors are equally
as varied although it has not been used as extensively as other types of block.
Smoothface is compliant to ASTM C-90 standard for load-bearing units; it is also fire resistant,
thermally efficient, sound absorbing and economical ---- a fairly universal block!
Smoothface comes in standard nominal block sizes as well as corners and shapes and can be used in
combination with brick and other architectural masonry units. Unlike painted block it requires
little maintenance or upkeep and still offers a wide range of colors. A smoothface block from
